OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2008. On the basis of monitoring Expert RA rating agency has affirmed the A (+7) rating formerly assigned to OAO Yuzhnaya Telekommunikatsionnaya Kompanya in the frame of the corporate governance national rating RID-Expert RA. The monitoring results positioned the company as one of the quality leaders in the Russian corporate governance system.

The OAO Yuzhnaya Telecommunikatsionnaya Kompanya system of corporate governance is on the rise due to strategic initiatives of the company’s management and shareholders. More efficient preparation of reporting in keeping with the international standards (International Accounting Standards) has contributed to the improved corporate governance.

"Today shareholders of Yuzhnaya Telecommunikatsionnaya Kompanya are quite satisfied with the quality of corporate management of the issuer. The discount of privileges shares at the stock exchange on March, 7th, was less 20%, whereas for Sberbank it was around 35%, for Surgutneftegaz - more than 40%, and for Rostelecom - more than 80% of the common share price", - points out Stepan Zhulin, comparing it with blue chips.
