OREANDA-NEWS. 12 March 2008 was announced, that a tunnel set to be a part of Severnaya Rokada [Northern Belt Road] under construction is to link Krasnobogatyrskaya Street and Budyonnogo Avenue in east Moscow.

“The tunnel with the length of 3,207 metres is to start on Krasnobogatyrskaya Street, go under Preobrazhenskaya and Semyonovskaya squares, go into Budyonnogo Avenue after Semyonovskaya Street,” the transportation server of Moscow said.

According to the general development plan of Moscow scheduled till 2025, the construction of Severnaya Rokada will be carried out at the same pace with Yuzhnaya Rokada [Southern Belt Road] next year. Severnaya Rokada is to be commissioned by 2012.

The route is to go from Moscow-Noginsk toll road, Kosino-Ukhtomskoe district in east Moscow, through Veshyaki district, along the Ryazan direction of the Moscow Railways and into Budyonnogo Avenue. Then the road will go through the tunnel under Preobrazhenskaya and Semyonovskaya squares, along Krasnobogatyrskaya Street, through Rostokino district in northwest Moscow where it is possible to go into Moscow-St Petersburg toll road from Korolyova Street.
