Ukraine Not to Acknowledge Transdniestria Independence
OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2008. Declaration of Kosovo's independence should not serve as a precedent to recognize sovereignty of Transdniestria, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Veselovskyi told the 10th meeting of the EUBAM consultative council in Odesa.
In his words, Kosovo has long been under international administration, and is a place of compact residence of a national group, which was subject to ethnic cleansing, including mass murders, unlike Transdniestria.
EUBAM is European Union's Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine, a consultative and technical body. It was set up for two years, but in 2007 its mandate was prolonged by two years more.
