Sheremetyevo Opened Second Runaway
OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 March 2008 was announced, that the second runaway of Sheremetyevo airport of Moscow was placed in operation on March 5 after the reconstruction launched in 2005.
Evgeny Bachurin, head of Rosaviatsiya, and Mikhail Vasilenko, general director of Sheremetyevo, cut a symbolic ribbon on the occasion of the opening of the 3,700-metre runaway.
Mr Bachurin added that the reconstruction of the first runaway would be launched shortly.
Earlier Mr Vasilenko said that the project on building the third runaway of Sheremetyevo would be elaborated in 2008. The length of the runaway 3 will equal 3,200 metres, the width will be 60 metres. There will be a ramp for 64 aircraft parking places on the runaway. The investment allocated for this project is priced at US$ 720 million.
