Belarus Discusses Security Issues with Russia, Germany
OREANDA-NEWS. March 6, 2008.Belarus held consultations with delegations of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia on the urgent issues of the European security and confidence and security-building measures (CSBMs). These issues were discussed during the OSCE Annual Implementation Assessment Meeting (AIAM) in Vienna. During the meeting Belarus informed about the fulfilment of its obligations under main military-political documents.
A Belarusian delegation was headed by Belarus’ permanent representative in the OSCE Alexander Sychev. The delegation included officials of the Foreign Ministry and Defence Ministry, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Andrei Popov told a news briefing on March 6.
The session focused on the urgent problems related to the fulfilment of the commitments under the 1999 Vienna Document, OSCE Code of Conduct on military-political aspects of security, OSCE documents on small arms and light weapons and stocks of conventions armaments and also on other CSBMs within the OSCE military-political dimension.
