OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 March 2008 was announced, that during the Presidential elections of the Russian Federation held on March 2, 2008 Southern telecommunications company has provided telecommunications for 10,432 precinct electoral commissions, 282 electoral commissions of the RF constituent entities, including district and territorial ones.

In order to ensure operational management and uninterrupted operation of communication facilities for the electoral commissions of different levels STC has formed special groups of experts working round-the-clock under the direction of STC’s Technical Director Evgeny Rzhevsky.

The day before the presidential elections of the Russian Federation a special operating regime of the telecommunication facilities has been introduced: scheduled works on the network have been cancelled, emergency repair teams have been reinforced, number of duty personnel has been increased. The preparation of STC’s telecommunications network for the elections involved reservation of channels required for data transmission subsystem SAS Elections.

In spite of adverse weather conditions in the territories of several branches, beginning of high water period and flooding of communication lines and facilities in the Volgograd region, all problems have been quickly solved. Some remote communication centers worked using mobile electric generators. Minor network faults have been quickly cleared. The Company’s experts ensured high quality operation of communication channels for the Elections State Automated System in ten RF constituent entities of the Southern federal district.
