OREANDA-NEWS. On March 04, 2008 experts of the Antonov Aeronautical Scientific-Technical Complex (Antonov ASTC), together with French firm Thales, have developed a concept for radical modernization of the An-74 aircraft, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

It is planned to equip the plane with a new cabin, up-to-date means of piloting, navigation and communications. Apart from this, cruising and auxiliary engine installations, the systems of control over the plane and its engines, as well as fuel and hydraulic systems, and chassis will be retrofitted.

The concept provides for the creation of several at once variants of a renovated plane: civil transport, military transport, naval transport and air monitoring under the Open Skies international program. They will all meet the current and expected requirements of the ICAO and Eurocontrol.
