OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2008. Saratov branch hosted a seminar dedicated to agricultural risk insurance and held under the employee training program implemented by ROSNO’s Povolzh’e Directorate, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The seminar was attended by managers and specialists employed by branches and agencies belonging to ROSNO’s Povolzh’e Directorate, representatives of the Saratov Regional Department of Agriculture, Saratov Hydrometeorological Centre, branch of FGU Russian Agricultural Centre, Agrarian Institute, regional branch of Agrochemical Service, bankers, and chief executives of agricultural enterprises.

The seminar was presided by Mr. Dmitry Lebedev, head of ROSNO’s Povolzh’e Directorate, and Mr. Leonid Golovanov, deputy director of ROSNO’s Integrated Financial Risks Insurance Centre, with active contribution to the seminar from Ms. Alla Loginova, deputy head of ROSNO’s Povolzh’e Directorate.

The seminar participants discussed a number of important issues related to peculiarities of insuring agricultural facilities, and examined the criteria for classification of natural events and weather conditions posing a threat to agricultural production. At the seminar, representative of the Saratov regional branch of OJSC "Rosselkhozbank" Mr. Dmitry Gorodilin described the requirements banks have to the terms of insurance coverage of pledged property and crops. The head of the Saratov branch of Moscow Bank for Reconstruction and Development Mr. Mikhail Kisel informed of his readiness to participate in the development of the program for cooperation between the bank and ROSNO in lending to agricultural enterprises. The seminar participants also reviewed specifics of regional legislation and regulations covering agricultural insurance, and insurance arrangements involving federal and regional budgetary funds.

During the seminar’s practical session, ROSNO employees shared expertise in such fields as loss settlement, calculation of damage, and payment of insurance compensations, and discussed the ways for insurers to improve their performance in agricultural insurance sector. Upon conclusion of the seminar, the participants received officially adopted professional development certificates, while Ms. Alla Loginova and Mr. Leonid Golovanov answered numerous questions of the Saratov journalists related to agricultural facilities insurance.
