CSKA Hockey Club and PWC Join Forces to Help Charity
OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2008. A hockey game between the CSKA and Salavat Yulaev teams took place in CSKA Ledovy Dvorets Sporta, reported the press-centre of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
On Defenders of the Fatherland Day, CSKA hockey club and PricewaterhouseCoopers — the club’s official sponsor — have done something for charity: more than 300 children from Moscow-region children’s homes came to watch the game. The future defenders of the Fatherland met the players and present them with commemorative prizes.
Organising a Defenders of the Fatherland Day celebration for children from orphanages is a logical extension of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ corporate social responsibility programme, which is directed at supporting child welfare programmes, education, culture and sport. For many years, PricewaterhouseCoopers has assisted children’s homes, taken part in international charity programmes aimed at raising money for children from low-income households or orphans, and financed restorations of historical and cultural monuments in Russia. Supporting Russian sport is a new direction for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ corporate social responsibility programme, and officially sponsoring legends of Russian hockey CSKA is the worthy start to this path.
Alexei Kondrashov, Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers:
“Reviving and supporting Russian sport is one of Russia's national priorities today. PricewaterhouseCoopers is ready to make its contribution to reaching this lofty goal.”
