Russian Government Assigned Kozmino Bay to be the ESPO’s Endpoint
OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 March 2008 was announced, that the Russian government has officially assigned the East Siberia – Pacific Ocean (ESPO) oil transportation system endpoint in Kozmino bay. On February 27, 2008 the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victor Zubkov has signed the modification order for the N 1737-p governmental decree of December 31, 2004 for the East Siberia – Pacific Ocean oil transportation system.
Looking back from the moment the decree was signed by the government in 2004 the ESPO route has undergone major modifications after the Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to bring the route away from the Baikal Lake drained zone. The decision was made on the insistence of the ecologists to relocate the oil pipeline endpoint from Perevoznaya bay to Kozmino bay.
