OREANDA-NEWS. March 4, 2008.  President Robert Kocharian received the EU special representative for the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby.

The parties discussed issues related to the post-election process in Armenia and, in particular, the situation in Yerevan caused by the illegal actions of the opposition, as well as possible avenues to overcome the impasse.

Robert Kocharian said that the authorities sincerely wish the situation to improve as soon as possible and return to normality.

According to the President of Armenia whatever has happened has nothing to do with the politics. These are criminal acts, which should be investigated thoroughly and the culprit must be held accountable.

Stressing the importance of the unbiased and thorough investigation of the current happenings, Peter Semneby expressed hope that everything possible would be done to ease the existing tension.
