OREANDA-NEWS. March 03, 2008. Stavropol branch hosted a seminar dedicated to agricultural risk insurance and held under the employee training program implemented by ROSNO’s Southern Directorate, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The seminar was attended by managers and specialists employed by branches and agencies belonging to ROSNO’s Southern Directorate, representatives of the Stavropol Regional Department of Agriculture, Stavropol Hydrometeorological Centre, regional agrochemical service, bankers, and chief executives of agricultural enterprises.

The seminar was presided by Mr. Vladimir Stroy, head of ROSNO’s Stavropol Branch, and Mr. Leonid Golovanov, deputy director of ROSNO’s Integrated Financial Risks Insurance Centre.

The seminar participants discussed a number of important issues related to peculiarities of insuring agricultural facilities, and examined the criteria for classification of natural events and weather conditions posing a threat to agricultural production. At the seminar, banking sector representatives described the requirements banks have to the terms of insurance coverage of pledged property and crops. The participants reviewed specifics of regional legislation and regulations covering agricultural insurance, and insurance arrangements involving federal and regional budgetary funds.

During the seminar’s practical session, ROSNO employees shared expertise in such fields as loss settlement, calculation of damage, and payment of insurance compensations, and discussed the ways for insurers to improve their performance in agricultural insurance sector.

Upon conclusion of the seminar, the participants received officially adopted professional development certificates.
