Total Capital of Galla Bank Comprises 31,8 bln Soums
OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2008. The total capital of the Galla Bank reached 31,8 billion soums as of 1 January 2008. The indicator has grown by 46,6% year-on-year, according to the press service of the bank.
Apart from the growth of the bank's resource base, efforts were directed towards attracting population's idle funds through different deposit plans. For this purpose the bank has developed different convenient deposit plans. As a result the deposit portfolio comprised over 12,5 billion soums, up 40% compared to the result of the previous year.
Also special attention was given to the development of the system of non-cash payments based on plastic cards. In 2007 alone the bank issued into circulation some 10,000 plastic cards, thereby increasing their number to 78,500.
For the purpose of servicing them the bank has installed 744 trade terminals. Last year the total volume of transactions conducted through plastic cards comprised 17 billion soums.
Today the bank's network includes 84 mini-banks, 167 savings cash desks, which provide banking and other services to more than 74,000 corporate and private clients.
Galla Bank was opened in 1994. According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan of 20 June 1994 No. 311 the bank's main task is to provide banking services to business entities engaged in growth of grains and other crops at the level of international standards, attract foreign investors, high technology, and assist in the export of the grains and flour stocked up during the season.
Today Galla Bank takes an active part in the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country.
