OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2008. Economic forum of Uzbek and German business circiles was held in Tashkent, reported the Official website www.gov.uz.

Minister of foreign economic relations, investments and trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiyev and Federal minister of economics and technology of Germany Michael Glos participated in the forum.

The German businessmen received information on the investment climate, economic reforms, privatization process and development of small and medium business in Uzbekistan.

The participants, including more than 100 representatives of 60 German companies, discussed development of economic and investment cooperation, as well as involvement of German companies in the privatization process in Uzbekistan.

To date, some 100 investment projects worth a total of EUR 1 billion have been implemented in Uzbekistan with participation of German investors. In 2007, mutual trade turnover made up USD 328,9 million.

About 140 joint ventures with German investments and 60 offices of German companies operate in Uzbekistan.

On the same day, the Uzbek-German working groups for trade and investment cooperation held a sitting.

The members of the German delegation also held talks in a number of ministries and departments in Uzbekistan on the issues of cooperation.
