OREANDA-NEWS.  On 28 February 2008 was announced, that the 2nd republican contest "The best book of the year" among the book artists will take place on February 29, 2008 in Central Exhibition Hall. The best among the book artists, book designers, book illustrators, book publishing house editors will be defined by the results of the contest. Organizers of the contest are Social Union of graphic artists of Kazakhstan and Kazinvest Kazakhstan Investment Promotion Center.

The book artists exhibition opening ceremony will take place besides in the frame of the contest. There will be organized following events: the exhibition of the best works of Kazakhstani book artists, exposition devoted to the children creative work, readings of cultural and literature workers of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, master-classes of famous Kazakhstani artists, also the exhibition of books of Kazakhstani authors.

According to the organizers this event will give the impulse to the development of national culture, giving an opportunity to young perspective artists for realization. The work of the contest and exhibition "The best book of the year" are directed to attract the attention of the society to the domestic literature, affecting rebirth of the Kazakhstani publishing business, stimulating the best samples of book products.

Last year 25 publishing houses took part in the contest presenting more than 250 books on various themes.  "It is obvious that books of new generation are published in the country, creative base of designers and illustrators are formed. The presence of domestic book publishers on the international book expositions is more noticeable",- pointed organizers.
