NACP of Moldova Will Monitor Market Prices Formation
OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2008. The National Agency for Competition Protection will monitor the correctness of market prices formation for a number of goods affecting economy development and citizens welfare.
This task has been put by the Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev in the course of the round table dedicated to establishing efficient cooperation between the bodies of central public administration and the NACP.
The government press-service informs, the PM has stressed the fact that the agency activity should not harm the country image or investment climate, but facilitate development of the national economy through creating the conditions for competition development in the market. The round table participants have noted the need of improvement for legal regulatory documental basis for activity in the sphere of competition protection and monopolies regulation.
It has been noted, because of the fact that earlier Moldova had no a body for monopoly market regulation and competition protection, in the first year of the NACP operation a necessity has appeared to improve the legal basis in the sphere.
The draft amendments to the law on competition protection have already been developed, discussed with the business community, international financial organizations, and in the nearest time they will be presented for approval. Vasile Tarlev has stressed that the government have persistently promoted the idea of a body creation for competition protection as an important instrument for insuring of the efficient market economy functioning. The PM has noted that the main criteria for the NACP activity assessment should be not the amount of the charged fines, but ensuring fair competition.
