FAS Russia and OECD Strengthen Furher Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2008. The Head of FAS Russia Igor Artemyev had a meeting with Nicolo Bonucci, the Director of the Directorate for Legal Affairs, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as officers from the Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs and the Directorate for Legal Affairs (OECD), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The meeting was arranged as part of the visit to Moscow of the OECD delegation, led by OECD Deputy Secretary-General Telma J. Askey, to have consultations on the issue of Russia joining the Organization.
In course of the meeting, the Parties discussed further cooperation between FAS Russia and OECD in terms of accession of the Russian Federation to OECD under the "Road Map of accession of the Russian Federation to the Convention on OECD".
Igor Artemyev advised OECD representatives of the outcome of the work carried out by the Antimonopoly Authority on improving competition regulation and enforcement, including the success achieved in reforming natural monopolies in the electric power industry, railways and communication.
In general, the Parties stated that further fruitful cooperation in terms of competition policy is especially important taking into consideration forthcoming accession of the Russian Federation to OECD as a fully-fledged member.
