OREANDA-NEWS. On  26 February 2008 was announced, that the Belarusian government has approved foreign investment attraction targets for state authorities for this year totaling US$ 2.708 billion, including US$1.4 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI). The government signed relevant resolution #178.

Belarus’ ministries and concerns are expected to attract $1.458 billion in foreign investment, of them US$ 499 million in FDI. Belneftekhim is expected to attract US$ 430 million, of them US$ 150 million in FDI, the Energy Ministry and Architecture and Construction Ministry are to attract US$ 200 million each, the Industry Ministry US$ 180 million, the Transport Ministry US$ 135 million, and Bellesbumprom concern US$ 100 million.

Region administrations are supposed to attract US$ 1.25 billion in investment, including US$ 821 million in FDI. The Minsk City Administration is expected to draw US$ 480 million in investment, of them US$ 395 million in FDI. Minsk Region Administration will attract US$ 150 million in investment, of them US$ 100 million in FDI, and Brest Region Administration US$ 130 million and US$ 85 million, respectively.

Free economic zones will have to attract US$ 90 million in foreign investment, of them US$ 60 million in FDI.
