OREANDA-NEWS. On February 19, 2008 a meeting of the Export Control Committee under the chairmanship of the RF First Vice-Premier Sergey Ivanov took place in the RF Government House. One of the considered issues was on “Foreign Economic Activity of PSC VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation”, reported the press-centre of VSMPO-AVISMA.

Engagement of industry representatives in the work of the Export Control Committee is a rare event and the issue related to export of metallurgical semi-products from titanium alloys was considered by the Committee meetings for the first time.

Opening the meeting S. Ivanov said: "The RF Government may take additional measures for export support of high-technology titanium products. This subject was not a random choice. As you know the problem related to providing access to the global markets of high technologies for domestic producers has obviously become more vital lately, and as the economic situation at our companies improves and their competitive potential rises, it will become more and more acute. The state takes the required steps aimed at extension of the country export potential and removal of political and administrative barriers, blocking development of foreign trading. But are they always adequate to the daily needs? Is it necessary to make any additional decisions in this line, including decisions in the line of export control? We shall discuss it".

The Corporation Director General – V. V. Tetyukhin – spoke at the meeting and reported on the Corporation progress in foreign economic activity, described the situation on the global titanium market at present time and in the near term, talked about export control problems, hindering development of the Company export potential.

From the discussion results the Export Control Committee made resolutions, implementation of which will allow PSC VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation to obtain export authorizations for products to be licensed with less labor and time consumption.
