OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) agreed on a Draft Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation, devised by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, on abolishing the quotes for importing filament lamps to the Russian Federation, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

FAS Russia came up with the initiative to abolish the protective measures regarding filament lamps, which had been established by №50 Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation of 28.01.2006 "On Protective Measures for the Russian Manufacturers of Filament Lamps", which introduced import quotas for filament lamps.

FAS Russia put forward its proposal because the existing quota does not deter supplies of the imported goods, which are in price competition with similar domestic products. On the contrary, the quotas restrict supplies of the filament lamps, whose price and quality outstrip their Russian analogues (for instance, filament lamps imported from the EU).

Abolishing import quotes for the filament lamps will better meet internal demand requirements and level the playing filed on the domestic market.
