OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2008. The delegation of the European Commission, headed by the Director of the Direcorate-general for Energy and Transport Mr. Fotis Karamitsos, visited Sovcomflot Moscow office in a series of meetings within Russian maritime community. The European Commission delegation stayed in Moscow from 11 till 13 February to attend the 3rd Meeting of the Working Group on Maritime, Sea-River and Inland Water Transport as a part of transportation dialogue between Russia and EU.

During the meeting the Sovcomflot President and CEO Mr. Sergey Frank informed the guests about the current position and the outlook for the future of the leading Russian shipping company which is among the top five tanker giants of the world. The parties exchanged their opinions on the key issues of the shipping industry, in particular related to the Baltic and the Black Seas, with a special emphasis on safety of navigation and marine environment protection.

In conclusion Mr. Karamitsos expressed his satisfaction with the dialogue and invited the experts of the Russian shipping company to attend public events arranged by the European Commission.
