Ukraine Resumes Sunflower Oil Export
OREANDA-NEWS. On February 20, 2008 Ukraine has resumed the export of sunflower, which was almost stopped on January 24, 2008, says Stepan Kapshuk, director general of the Ukroliaprom association, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.
In his words, in February the export is expected to reach 140,000 - 150,000 tons.
On top Kapshuk emphasized that the domestic reserve of sunflower oil by March 1 reached the country's two-month consumption volume.
Among the reasons for slower pace of the Ukrainian sunflower oil export he listed the pricing situation in the world markets.
Ukraine's oil-and-fat companies suspended on January 24 the export of sunflower oil because of the requirement of regional customs for confirmation of codes of the Ukrainian classifier of foreign trade commodities via special customs laboratories.
This marketing year (September 2007 - August 2008), Ukraine is planning to produce about 1,8 million tons of sunflower oil, including 0.5 million tons for home market.
