OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2008. Ukraine is ready to offer to Belarus 280 MW of export capacity on condition of coordination of its price at the level not lower than the one registered in the Wholesale Electricity Market, Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan says, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

In his words, the parties have already started the negotiations. "We are ready to negotiate, but the price is a problem," the minister said.

Commenting on resumption of business exports of electricity to Russia, he noted that no proposals on the issue came from the Russian side.

Talks are continuing with potential importers in Poland, but Polish partners' offers do not correspond to the Wholesale Electricity Market price levels, Prodan says.

As reported, Belarus expressed preparedness to import Ukrainian electricity again.

In October 2007, that country declared plans to import 2 billion kWh of electricity from Ukraine in 2008.

Ukrainian electricity exports to Belarus were stopped in summer 2007 due to price discord and electricity shortage.

Currently Ukraine is exporting electricity to Moldova, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
