OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2008. Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan is not going to apply Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan with suggestions to simplify visa system with European Union (EU) countries as Ukraine and Georgia did.

Abulfaz Garayev, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, said Azerbaijan is in condition of war with Armenia, therefore it is impossible to talk about non-visa regime and bound openness.

“We would open our boundaries when politic solution of Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict to be found. Today, to provide national security it’s impossible to talk about boundary openness and non-visa trips because it could be used,” A.Garayev said.

At the same time Minister considers as normal to receive visas in airports and via travel agencies. In 2008 Azerbaijan transferred visa payment into manats and euro though last year US dollar could be used for that purpose.
