OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2008. Workers meetings were held in all the divisions of Zaporizhstal JSC. The heads of the subdivisions and trade unions of the Works participated in the meetings. A result of the meeting was the efficient work of the shops’ trade union leaders, who organized and conducted these meetings with high responsibility.

Irrespective of the various economical hardships and political instability in the country last year the Works’ collective successfully accomplished the production tasks. With certainty it can be said that the labour collectives of the shops and subdivisions of the Works are ready to work hard, and they will make maximum efforts to fulfill the production task, increase the products’ quality, accomplish the power saving programme.

Representatives of the management and trade union of the Works informed the labour collectives of Zaporizhstal of the 2007 results and fulfilled tasks, economy of raw materials, fuel and power resources in 2008. The shop managers marked the positive results of the production activity of their collectives. The people were thanked for their hard work. The results of their work made it possible to fulfill last year’s task. During these meetings not only the production tasks for the current period were discussed but interest was also shown to the Works’ future solutions of in-shop questions and problems, which require participation of the Works’ administration and trade union. One of the main activities of the collectives is work safety. Last year we gained the best index on work safety throughout the whole history of the Works. The level of production traumatism has reduced to 22 cases without a single death case. However, work safety problems and observance of safety rules require constant attention and thorough work of each worker.

Aspects regarding labour discipline were discussed at the meetings and problems concerning thefts and attempts to steal the Works material possessions were also touched upon. Shop trade union chairmen paid special attention to the necessity of getting rid of this disgraceful phenomenon.

Public speaking of workers shows, that problems regarding quality of work clothes and also transportation of workers and observance of pass control are up-to-date.

Due to the rapid increase of prices on goods of first priority, increase of utility payments, transport fees, the question regarding increase of salary payment is still under consideration.

In blast furnace shop No.2 an unsolved problem regarding expansion of blast furnace No.2 cast yard still exists. Irrespective of the fact that the design estimate documentation is ready, financing of the mentioned work is not foreseen in the capital repair title sheet for 2008.

Remarks and proposals, mentioned during the workers’ meetings, have been classified and forwarded to the Works’ management and the trade union chairmen.
