OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2008. Bank’s officials engaged in charitable and patronage activities celebrated the New Year meeting with old friends. Visiting sponsored orphan houses is a very kind tradition for Deputy Chairman, Alexander Ilyasiuk and Head of Public Relations, Sergey Priomko. In January 2008 they delivered a valuable gift to the Slutsk Orphan House – sweets and candies for kids and stationeries for orphan house employees, reported the press-centre of Belgazprombank.

Assistance to orphan houses and social shelters has been one of the main directions of the Bank’s charitable activities for the last decade. Among sponsored institutions are, among others, Slutsk Orphan House, Dokshitsy Social Shelter, public association “Otkrovenie”, helping cerebral paralysis infants. In the year 2007 the list of the sponsored institutions was extended – the Bank provided about 40 mln BYR in favour of Ulukovie children community (Gomel Region).

The sponsored amounts are significant for the institutions. It is evidenced that only the continuous targeted assistance can result in significant improvements for the sponsored institutions as well as moral considerations for the sponsor. In this context the Bank has losest relationship with Slutsk Orphan House. It has been 10 years since the beginning of this relationship and we are indeed proud of our cooperation.

The Bank’s assistance helped more than one hindred 3-5-year kids to find their shelter there, the Bank contributed to the renovation of the heating system, purchase of the special furniture, kitchen equipment, modernization of window units, every year the Bank arranges for New Year celebration for the children. Every year the Bank and the Chairman of the Orphan House, Ljudmila Kiseljova discuss the sponsor programme for the following year. The assistance for the 10 years totals over 150 mln BYR.

It is worth mentioning the cooperation with sponsored agriculture organization – OAO Gorodyatitchi (Luban District, Minsk Region). In 2007 the Bank contributed to the purchase of the grass-mowing machine and a tractor trailer. As a result, the organization won a district competition on forage conservation.

A new sponsor project – assistance to the Bank’s mission in culture environment. Belgazprombank became a general partner and sponsor of the 3rd international theatre festival “Panorama” held in Minsk in 2007.

The 2008 programme of cooperation with sponsored institutions is to be approved by the general meeting of shareholders. The planned budget of the programme is significantly extended in comparison to the last year’s one.
