OREANDA-NEWS. On 18 February 2008 was announced, that the construction of the complex for preparation and injection of coal fuel into the blast furnaces is still in progress. The other day the first set of processing equipment, manufactured in People’s Republic China, arrived in Mariupol Marine Port. The decision to implement the technology of coal fuel preparation and injection into the blast furnaces at Illych Iron & Steel Works is based on the necessity to decrease the power intensity of production and was accepted in 2006. The management of PJSC "Illych Iron & Steel Works" concluded an association contract with the company "Min Metals" (People’s Republic China), which is the producer and the supplier of the required equipment. Illych Capital Construction Administration was entrusted with the construction of buildings and facilities. Since the day of receiving the licensing documents a great range of preparation works has been done, and on the 30th of January, based on the contract conditions, the processing equipment from China was delivered in Mariupol by sea transportation.

As explained by Mr. Anatoliy Volovikov, Deputy General Director for Capital Construction – head of Capital Construction Administration, 7 thousand 800 tons of the equipment had been supplied: three mills, special bag filters, valves and many other types of equipment, that are required for the erection of the installation. This is the major portion of the cargo to be supplied. The rest portion of the equipment will be delivered a bit later.

According to Mr. Anatoliy Chumak, Assistant Head of the Blast Furnace Shop for Coal Fuel, the unloading is being performed 24 hours a day. The electrical and instrumentation equipment (pumps, motors and others) goes to the warehouses of Illych Capital Construction Administration and the heavy-weight and large-size equipment goes to the warehouses of construction contractor SU-112 "Stalkonstruktsiya". About 17-18 units of equipment are constantly engaged in the process of unloading.

All the equipment is packed and sealed. By the start of erection works the Chinese supervisors and Capital construction administration specialists of Illych Iron & Steel Works will have checked the compliance of the equipment with the packing lists and spreadsheets. The start of erection is planned for April. For March it is planned to complete the concrete works, the construction of the main building and retaining works.
