OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2008. Interview with the director general of Rosatomstroy Investment Construction Concern A.Butov.

— What a role does the Krasnoyarsk forum have for the region and Russia, as a whole?

— I think that the past forum can be regarded as one of the biggest events aimed at formation of a long-term economic development strategy in Russia. It is one the key economic events in Siberia this year. The forum plays a very important role in the development of Siberia and Krasnoyarsk region, in particular. Its program comprised a number of conferences, meetings and roundtables. We have discussed the urgent problems of the Russian industry. Almost 2,000 companies from Russia and abroad took part in the forum. Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum is a constructive dialogue of business. We have considered big investment projects. Most of them were quite realistic. Some of them are already being implemented and will certainly promote the development of our economy and the improvement of our living standard.

— Was it the first time you attended the forum?

— Yes, it was the first time. But we have always followed its work. We are happy that this time we have joined in and I am sure that our participation will continue.

– Did you present any projects?

— Today, our key project is the construction of Zheleznogorsk Thermal Power Plant. This facility is very important for the region and the country, as a whole. The project is part of US-Russian agreements for elimination of weapons grade plutonium production and for elimination of plutonium production at ADE-4 and ADE-5 reactors in Zheleznogorsk. The plant is supposed to replace the ADE reactors and to guarantee stable energy supply in the region. The capacity of the plant is 117MW and 478 Gcalh, which is quite enough for Zheleznogorsk.

— What plans do you have?

— We have big plans and ambitious goals. Today, we are carrying out lots of complex and interesting projects. But our key projects are the reconstruction of Seversk TPP and the construction of Zheleznogorslk TPP.
