OREANDA-NEWS. On February 11, 2008 the oil company TNK-BP announced the opening of the first multifunctional automotive fueling station under the BP brand name in Saint Petersburg. TNK-BP Chief Operating Officer Tim Summers and Downstream Executive Vice-President Anthony Considine took part in the BP gas station opening ceremony, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

“We are glad that BP’s fiftieth auto fueling station in Russia has opened in the city of Saint Petersburg, a city with which our company has positive partnership relations,” announced Tim Summers.  “I’m certain that the retail network being created here will affirm TNK-BP’s reputation as a successful producer, reliable supplier of high-quality fuel, and a responsible corporate citizen.”

“The Saint Petersburg retail fuel market is one of the most attractive in Russia, and a key priority for TNK-BP along with Moscow,” said Anthony Considine.  “BP, Moscow’s most successful retail network, which gained its reputation for guaranteed fuel quality and the wide range of services provided, and where sales volumes at one single fuel station are three times higher than average market sales, expands its footprint to the Northern Capital of Russia today. We hope that this premium offer will contribute to strengthen our position in the Saint-Petersburg market”.

Last year TNK- BP opened its first two new gas stations under the TNK brand in Saint Petersburg. TNK-BP’s retail network in Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast is slated to include fifty modern automotive fueling stations within the next five years, which will create over 1500 new jobs.  The volume of investment in this project is currently estimated at $150 million US.
