“Nuclear Energy 2008” Exhibition Begins in Minsk
OREANDA-NEWS. February 13, 2008. Companies and organizations from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and Sweden are taking part in the exhibition. Rosatom’s exposition, organized by Atomexpo, covers an area of almost 350 sq m and presents the products of Atomeneroprom OJSC, Rosenergoatom Concern FSUE, TVEL OJSC, Atomstroyexport CSJC and other companies.
The chairman of the board of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, the deputy minister of energy of Belarus Mikhail Mikhaduk and other Byelorussian top officials attended the exhibition. They visited Rosatom’s exposition and were informed about the latest changes in the structure of Russia’s nuclear industry, the establishment of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and Atomenergoprom state holding, the plans of Russia for the construction of nuclear power plants at home and abroad. “Our priorities are cost efficiency and safety of the project and its compatibility with our energy system,” Myasnikovich said.
The program of the exhibition included roundtables on the following subjects: Nuclear Power Engineering for the Republic of Belarus, Nuclear Medicine, Training of Personnel for Nuclear Industry as well as a briefing for journalists.
During the briefing the acting director general of Rosenergoatom Concern Alexander Lokshin said that Atomenergoprom holding would allow Russia to consolidate its nuclear assets and to carry out its plans for the large-scale construction of nuclear power plants at home and abroad. “Presently we are implementing a 1.5trl RUR program, particularly, we are building five nuclear power units. Three of the projects are near completion,” Lokshin said.
