Bank of Lithuania Submits Applications to Win Vladas Jurgutis Award
OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2007. Up to 1 September 2008, the Bank of Lithuania accepts proposals on the candidates to win this year’s Vladas Jurgutis Award, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.
The award in the amount of LTL 20,000 is granted for significant works during the recent five years in the areas of Lithuanian banking, financial, monetary and macroeconomic research (monographs, textbooks, published scientific papers, dissertations). The winner of the award is announced and honoured in November, during the commemoration of the birthday of Vladas Jurgutis, academician, professor, the first governor of the pre-war Bank of Lithuania.
“This award is used by the Bank of Lithuania to encourage scientific activity in the areas of financial, banking, monetary and macroeconomic research and contribute to further investigations and discoveries of this type”, told professor Vaidievutis Geralavieius, Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania and Chairman of the Commission for the Granting of Vladas Jurgutis Award. He also noticed that not only well-known economic and financial authorities, but also young scientists start to show interest in the possibility to apply for the award.
Natural persons and legal entities may propose applicants for receiving the award. When proposing a candidate to the Bank of Lithuania (at the address: Gedimino av. 6, LT-01103, Vilnius), the following should be submitted in the Lithuanian or English language: recommendation of the natural person or legal entity that proposes the candidate; description of the candidate’s life and scientific activity, list of works; works of the candidate, for which he/she is proposed to be awarded, reviews of the works submitted and feedback about them.
