OREANDA-NEWS. On February 12, 2007 32-year old Justas Minkevicius was appointed as an Acting Director of the International Relations Department of the Bank of Lithuania, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.

Mr. Justas Minkevicius has been working at the Bank of Lithuania since November 1997. He worked as a Senior Economist of the European Integration and International Organisations Division and a Chief Expert of the European Relations Division of the International Relations Department.

After winning a competition, Mr. Minkevicius worked as an Advisor to the Executive Director of the Nordic-Baltic Office of the International Monetary Fund in Washington in 2005 - 2007.

In 2000, Mr. Justas Minkevicius graduated from Vilnius University, where he completed the banking studies programme and was granted the master’s degree. In 2003 - 2004 he studied at Columbia University (New York, USA) according to the economic policy program and was granted the master’s degree.

Mr. Stasys Kropas, former Director of the International Relations Department of the Bank of Lithuania, has been elected as the President of the Association of Lithuanian Banks and has been working in this organisation since 11 February this year.

The mission of the International Relations Department is to ensure appropriate participation of the Bank of Lithuania in the European System of Central Banks and the decision-making processes of the European Union, international relations required for the performance of the bank’s functions, representation of the bank and cooperation with international financial organizations.
