OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2007. The North American business Extaport International Ltd. is negotiating with the representatives of seven wineries and spirit manufacturers in Moldova the exclusive distribution right for wine and spirit on the US and Canadian markets.

According to the Canadian business developer and management Business Service Ltd. (ICBS), the deal would see a line of fine wines, 25 year old brandies and cognacs along with vodka and other spirits imported to North America.

The estimated 15 million dollar deal is expected to bring the total revenues up to 27 mln USD for Extaport International Ltd sales in 2008 and 2009. The company is interested in the Moldovan products as it wants to add a full range of wines to their existing line of exclusive Portuguese wines supplied to the US and Canadian market. The President and CEO of ICBS and Extaport International Ltd, Garth McIntosh, stated that the agreement with the Moldovan companies is expected to be completed within sixty days, and that with the addition of Moldova wines and spirits will give them a complete representation of wines and now superb spirits on the North American market.

ICBS is a majority shareholder of Extaport International with 60% of shares.

At present, several Moldovan companies export insignificant quantities of spirits to the USA and Canada.
