OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2008. Under the conditions of the severe competition on the world market it is impossible to count only on the high quality of products. The reputation of the enterprise is getting more and more important in the market relations. And the activity expressed as concern for people’s life, health and environment is one of the important constituents of the reputation.

It was planned to certify in April 2008 the Labour Protection and Occupational Safety Management System as well as the Ecology Management System at KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc. to conform to the international standards IISAS 18001:2007 and ISI 14001:2004. In the frames of the program to introduce the Integrated Management System (IMS), the Ecology & Labour Protection Policy has been adopted, the Labour Protection and Occupational Safety objectives have been set and the Target Ecology indices have been established for 2008. This step is an integral part of the planning stage.

While the existing Quality Management System is confirmed with the documents of the accreditation bodies such as TUV CERT and Russian Register, the preparation of the Labour Protection and Occupational Safety Management System as well as the Environment Management System for the certification started at the end of 2006. The policy in the Labour Protection and Occupational Safety and in the Environment Management was approved, a representative of the top management was appointed to be responsible for the preparation of the documents and to provide general management of the KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc.’s activity to assure environmental protection and industrial safety, and the required manpower and financial resources were furnished.

A diagnostic audit took place a year ago at KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc.. And the specialists of Bureau Veritas Rus, the consulting company from Moscow, acted as experts. They visited the production facilities and main divisions of the plant and analyzed the condition of the Labour Protection and Occupational Safety Management System and of the Environment Management System. A little later the Program of Corrective Actions was developed. The teaching seminar was hold in spring 2007. The three-days courses according to the Environmental Protection Program were oriented to the managers and specialists of various levels in the company. The objective was to raise the level of the personnel’s skill concerning the ecological matters. The beginning of 2008 was marked with the development, discussions and approval of the background documents that should be the basis of the Labor Protection and Occupational Safety Management System and of the Environment Management in KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc.. February 5th, the preliminary inspection of the Integrated Management System was started by Russian Register Association for Certification. During four days the representatives of the Association will familiarize themselves with the way how the plants and individual production areas and divisions arrange their activity to meet the requirements of IISAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004.
