OREANDA-NEWS. February 8, 2008. Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) has furnished the data on paint and varnish production in 2007. According to Rosstat, last year the total volume of paint and varnish production in Russia constituted 938,542 tons, volume of import of paint and varnish products — 188,243 t.

The rating of the largest Russian manufacturers of coatings in Russia is headed by Empils again. According to Rosstat, it has manufactured 100,337 t of products (inclusive of semi-finished varnish used for enamels production). Also Empils became the largest exporter of coatings. During 2007 it exported 17,750 t of paint and varnish out of the Russian Federation. Overall, the experts of Rosstat evaluate the size of the Russian paint and varnish market as of 2007 as 1,298,370 t.

Furthermore Empils takes the lead in the rating of the Russian manufacturers of decorative coatings prepared by the British company Information Research (IRL). A Profile of the Central and Eastern European Paint Industry 3rd edition according to the results of 2006 is prepared on the basis of information obtained from open sources and expert estimations.
