Kazakhstan Receives USD 173,9 mln from World Bank
OREANDA-NEWS. On February 02, 2007 Kazakhstan’s Government has signed four agreements with the World Bank for obtaining four loans totally worth USD 173,9 million to be used for implementation of a number of important projects, reported the Official website http://en.government.kz.
According to the Kazakh Finance Ministry’s Press Service, the loan to finance a project of technology commercialization makes up USD 13,4 million, with another USD 61,6 million being allocated out of the state budget. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Education and Science has been designated as the coordinator of the project.
The loan extended to finance a project of technology transfer and institutional reforms in healthcare makes up USD 117,7 million, with the state allocating extra USD 178,4 million out of the state budget. The project seeks to introduce international standards and support key reforms in the sector.
The loan to finance a project of customs service development makes up USD 18,5 million, with the state earmarking USD 43,5 million.
And the fourth loan to finance a project of environmental reclamation in Ust Kamenogorsk City makes up USD 24,29 million, with the state providing USD 45,42 million. The project seeks to ensure water supply safety.
According to Finance Minister Bolat Zhamishev, total cost of the said projects stands at USD 500 million. “These projects will foster the national economy’s development”, Minister Zhamishev noted in an interview.
