OREANDA-NEWS. February 5, 2008.  President Robert Kocharian received Serge Churuk, President of Alcatel Lucent - one of the world’s leading companies in the area of information technologies and President of the Knightbridge Holding, former Prime Minister of Armenia Armen Sarkissian.

Segre Churuk spoke briefly about the activities of Alcatel and mentioned the intention and readiness of the company to launch in Armenia certain programs.

The parties spoke about opportunities for cooperation in the areas of scientific research, introduction of innovative technologies in the economy, and high-class and speedy internet connection.

Stressing the importance of the mutually beneficial cooperation, Robert Kocharian said that the Government of Armenia declared the area of information technologies one of the priority areas of development. He noted that there is already a noticeable progress in that area. He also said that in the coming years the objective should be to move from programming works to the manufacturing of high technologies.
