OREANDA-NEWS. February 4, 2008.  Belgorod Region, Gubkin, Public Limited Company Kombinat KMAore. Kombinat KMAore, PLC, is considering a capital investment project aimed at expanding the capacities of the enterprise, which extracts iron ore and produces iron-ore concentrate, up to 5.6 mil tons a year. The task team made up of the company’s experts and representatives of St. Petersburg-based organisation PeterGORproekt, Ltd., known as one of Russia’s leading specialised engineering company engaged in preparing designs for mining industry enterprises and highly complex installations in other industrial sectors, came up with six options to choose from. Three of these were of huge interest: pillar extraction across the Stretenskaya Deposit, opening-up of the level where the horizon is under 71 m or above 125 m. Fundamental differences between them are in shaft-sinking: either underlayer or incline, or combined. All three options have a common feature, and that is use of state-of-art technology that minimises manual labour and increases industrial safety. For the moment, work in this track is undergoing the economic feasibility study.
