In order to further raise the level of capitalization of commercial banks, ensure their active participation in the investment processes, structural reforms of the economy, modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of productions in 2007 the President of Uzbekistan passed a Resolution "On measures to further raise the capitalization of banks and activate their participation in the investment processes with the aim of modernizing the economy", reported the press-centre of Uzpromstroybank.

In particular, in 2007 the equity capital of commercial banks of Uzbekistan was doubled; and as of 1 January 2008 it comprised 365, billion soums.

In 2007 the population's demand for the shares of Uzbek banks continued to grow, as a result of which the number of the banks' shareholders increased by 12,200 to 197,300 shareholders. The aggregate share of individuals in the ownership of commercial banks made up 68%.

In the same year the total capital of commercial banks grew by 40,4%, and reached 1,502.6 billion soums as of 1 January 2008.
