OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2007. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) sent a letter to the Ministry of Economic Development proposing to abolish 20% import duties on aluminum cans, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
On 27th December 2007 FAS Russia allowed a petition of "Rexam Beverage Can Holdings B.V." on acquiring 100 % of the registered capital of "ROSTAR" Ltd. (main activities - manufacturing aluminum packaging) and "ROSTAR-Vsevolozhsk" Ltd. (main activities - manufacturing aluminum packaging), and at the same time issued a determinations to carry out certain actions towards protection of competition.
"Rexam Beverage Can Holdings B.V." already approached the Russian Ministry of Economic Development regarding possible abolition of export duties on "hard aluminum cylinder containers, capacity no more than 1 liter" and "aluminum sealing lids, diameter more than 21 mm", which was one of the principal conditions for the transaction to be approved by FAS Russia.
