Moldova Faces Decline in Industrial Production in 2007
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2007. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2007, industrial enterprises of all forms of ownership, produced goods for 26 billion 186,8 million leis ($ 2,3 billion).
As compared to January 2006, index of industrial production in compatible prices made 97,3%, and in December, 2007- 92%, respectively. Decline in industrial production was stipulated by the reduction of production at the enterprises producing sugar – by 50,4%, wine – 29,5%, distilled alcohol beverages – 22,0 %, and wood processing enterprises – 44,5%.
However, the growth of industrial output was registered at the enterprises engaged in cutting and processing of stone – 1,6 times, dressing of leather – 40,5%, production of medical equipment and optical instruments - 39,0 %, production of cement, lime and plaster – 26,3%, paper and cardboard – 17,1%, medicines and pharmaceutical products – 13,8%, etc.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the volume of output of food industry (including beverages) declined by 9,5%. However, the growth of flour-milling output – by 1,6 times, mineral water and soft drinks - 29,5%, meat products – 23,9%, cocoa, chocolate and sweet confectionery products – 16,0 % was registered.
The volume of fruits and vegetables produced and processed grew by 10,6%. In 2007, volume of beer production increased by 10,5%, production of vegetable oil and fats – 9,2%, bread and bakery products – 7,5%, dairy products – 3,4% and animal fodder – by 2,4%.
