Moldova Intends to Enhance Cooperation with Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2007. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev will pay a visit to Moscow in late February 2008 at an invitation by his counterpart, reported the Official website http://gov.md.
The announcement was made at a meeting of the premier with Russian Ambassador to Moldova Valeriy Kuzmin.
Tarlev advocated the need to plan actions able to lead to some evident results that will strengthen and deepen the Moldovan-Russian relations.
Kuzmin particularly referred to the organisation of a 6 February Moldovan-Russian economic forum in Chisinau. The ambassador said that representatives from about 30 Russian regions have already confirmed their participation in the forum.
The premier highlighted the importance attached to this forum, which is meant to help increase mutual investments and create Moldovan-Russian joint ventures in sectors of common interest.
Tarlev underscored that Russia is one of Moldova's strategic partners and the Moldovan authorities are interested in developing balanced relations based on mutual interest and respect.
The officials highly appreciated the consolidation of the Moldovan-Russian relations confirmed by the outcome of President Vladimir Voronin's latest visit to Moscow and by the agenda of joint events planned for the immediate future.
