Trast Bank Launches Consumer Crediting Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2008. Uzbek Trast Bank has launched the programme of consumer crediting, which envisages that the population of the country is provided an opportunity to get a loans for purchasing consumer goods, such as furniture, household technology, office technology, radio-electronic devices, etc. According to Uzreport, the programme was launched pursuant to the Presidential Resolution No. 56 of 15 April 2005 "On measures to further reform and liberalise the banking system" particularly through expansion of "different sorts of consumer crediting activities that stimulate consumer demand for the products of domestic producers".
The interest rate charged for the loan makes up 18% pa. Consumer loans from Trast Bank are issued for the period of no more than two years. The loans are provided in the amount ranging from 50 to 750 minimum wages. Depending on the sum of the loan requested, the sum of the down payment may vary.
In order to obtain a loan, the borrower should pay 30% to 40% of the cost of good (depending on the price of the good purchased) in cash to the special bank account. The bank provides a loan for the remaining portion of the price of good to be purchased, and transfers it as a payment for the good together with the money deposited by the borrower.
