OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2008. Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant controlled by the Bank 'RUSSIA' will have a competitor. The shipbuilding division of Severnaya Verf has been modernized for the construction of large-capacity vessels of the total deadweight minimum 500 thousand tons. Investments into the project totaled RUR13.7 billion. The shipbuilders intend to start fighting for Gazprom's orders on the construction of semi-submersible floating drilling platforms. The gas monopoly is planning to put five such platforms into operation by the end of 2010 to develop the Shtockman deposit. Two of the platforms costing RUR59 billion are currently under construction at VSP.
