OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2008. The aviation training centre (ATC) of Domodedovo Airport Aviation Security, an East Line Group member, has been licensed by the Ministry of Education of the Moscow region to engage in education activities, the Domodedovo press service reports. This will enable the ATC to train aviation security personnel. The ATC is capable of training up to 300 highly qualified specialists per month.

Today, the ATC disposes of the most advanced technical base in Russia. All of the airport production levels, i.e. check-in, customs, border, and special control areas, are recreated inside a 1,000 sq. m. training facility. In the course of the training process the ATC students use special equipment, such as computers, introscopes, stationary and portable metal detectors, X-ray devices, video surveillance and communication systems, etc.

The classes are conducted by the best instructors from institutions of higher learning operated by special (Federal Security Service, External Intelligence Service) and civil aviation agencies.

The ATC was established in April of 2003. It was certified by the RF Ministry of Transportation to train aviation security specialists and Domodedovo airport personnel. The first ATC students began their training in October of 2003. Since then, the ATC has trained more than 2,000 aviation security officers for Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport. The ATC training programmes are based on the most advanced Russian and foreign methods, as well as original training systems and approaches designed by the ATC instructors. The following training courses are available for initial training and qualification improvement: “Preventing access to restricted areas of the airport ”, “Pre-flight aircraft inspection”, “Pre-flight inspection of passengers, luggage and hand luggage, flight crews, and maintenance personnel”, “Pre-flight inspection of freight, mail, and onboard supplies”, “Pre-flight inspection”, “Apron control”, as well as aviation security courses for airport personnel and qualification improvement courses in “ASS managers and officials” and “Transportation of dangerous freight by air”.
