OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2008.  Geneva has hosted the 13th UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) Gas Centre Executive Board meeting under the chairmanship of Mr.Stanislav Tsygankov, Head of the Gazprom International Business Department.

The meeting summed up the Gas Centre’s operating results over the past year and reviewed a Program of activities for the upcoming period. In particular, it was resolved that the Task Forces on Implementation of the EU Gas Directive and on Gas Transportation and Tariffs proceed with their work.

The meeting also accepted the proposal of StatoilHydro to hold in Norway in June 2008 a regular High Level Thematic Conference dedicated to offshore natural gas production (Ormen Lange field).

In addition, representatives of the Gas Centre member companies will participate in the “Innovative Technologies in the Oil, Gas, Energy and Communication Sectors” International Congress (CITOGIC) to be held in St. Petersburg in September 2008.

The Executive Board adopted the decision to include in the Bureau membership Mr.Svetislav Krstic, Srbijagas Management Board Chairman and Mr. Bengt Hernes, Adviser, Natural Gas, StatoilHydro.

The participants addressed steps aiming to further improve the Gas Centre’s Website and information resources, and to exchange information on the European gas markets and industry among the member companies.

Summing up the meeting results, Mr. Stanislav Tsygankov underlined the significance of the Gas Centre’s economic activity with regard to addressing certain gas policy related issues and highlighted the importance of its analytical materials for corporate and public sector companies, research institutes and organizations.
