Russia Stands for Rising of Standards of International Postal Security
OREANDA-NEWS. On January 15, 2007 Russian delegation suggested the amendments to Universal Postal Convention, Letter Post Regulations and Parcel Post Regulations at Plenary Assembly of PostEurop held in Krakow (Poland), reported the press-centre of Russian Post.
The amendments to the documents of the Universal Postal Union suggested by Russia aim at improving delivery of international parcel and post correspondence and solving the problem of international postal security. The suggestion on strengthening standards of security is of special importance. This measure helps to solve questions of mails security, embargo on delivery of prohibited goods, explosive substances and drugs.
It was the last Assembly of PostEurop on the eve of the World Congress of UPU to be held in August 2008. The members of the Association should set unified package of proposals to the documents of the Congress. They set world postal development trends for the next 4 years. Suggestions of PostEurop are especially significant as the Association is one of the most powerful regional establishments within the framework of UPU accounted for 40% of the UPU budget.
Note:
PostEurop consists of 44 European postal operators. It was established in 1993. The main aim of the organization is to optimize postal operations and services in Europe and improve cooperation between the members. It represents postal industry of the whole Europe.
In September 2007 Russia entered the Committee of the Association for the second time.
