JSC ZMP Undertakes Environmental Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2007. JSC Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (part of the metallurgic holding of the ESTAR Group) undertook an environmental programme for 2008. Investment value of the programme is about RR40 mn.
Next year the plant is planning to install dust and gas cleaning plants at the lime site, in casting house, and at electric steel melting shop-2. Gas intake devices are to be installed at electric steel melting shop-1, and dust trapping units – in the 1st roll mill. Treatment of waste water after oil separator is planned to be installed at a steam power plant. All these measures will allow to reduce emissions by 230 tons per year and pollutants discharge by 1 thousand tons per year and also to improve working conditions for the employees.
Upgrade of gas and dust trapping units undertaken in 2006-2007 enabled the plant to reduce air emissions by more than 330 thousand tons. Construction of the drainage from the vacuum-oxygen refining line was completed, thus, wasted industrial water goes to recirculation system. With accomplishment of a set of measures to protect water pond, pollutants discharge in 2007 to Ai river was reduced twofold, oil derivatives – 9 times vs. 2006.
