IBS Borlas Starts ERP II Implementation Project for Severstal-Invest
OREANDA-NEWS. On January 15, 2007 IBS Borlas has announced the launch of an ERP II system implementation project for Severstal-Invest Trade House. The system is intended to optimize business processes and improve the quality of customer service at one of Russia's biggest metal trading companies, reported the press-centre of IBS.
Severstal-Invest Trade House currently uses its own automated information systems. However, according to Dmitry Sytin, IT Director of Severstal-Invest Trade House, "the company faces the need for further automation in some of its lines of business as it pursues further growth and seeks to improve its business efficiency. A study exposed significant technological and functional constraints in the existing software and revealed no possibility for functionality upgrade or expansion. Moreover, the company will not be able to further increase sales without having the existing management system replaced".
Therefore, the management of Severstal-Invest Trade House decided to have an ERP II system based on Oracle E-Business Suite solutions implemented at the Trade House in line with the Severstal Group information technologies strategy. Borlas Consulting Group was selected to be the general contractor under this project based on the results of a tender.
According to Sergey Khlevnyuk, Project Director from IBS Borlas, "The corporate information system of Severstal-Invest Trade House, based on Oracle E-Business Suite 11i, will be implemented in a number of the company’s units including the Head Office, the Service and Metal Warehouses and the Points of Delivery. The system is planned to have approximately 500 workstations. The project will include such areas as Finance (including Russian Accounting Standards and IFRS accounting), Logistics, Production and Budgeting. This large-scale project is scheduled for completion in 2009. The project will improve the quality and efficiency of Severstal-Invest Trade House business processes in preparing financial statements, sales organization, product warehouse inventory management, counterparty relationship management, leading to better customer service".
