LNG Tanker ‘Grand Aniva’ Delivered to Sakhalin Energy
OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2008. In the first week of 2008, January 4, the second LNG carrier ‘Grand Aniva’, long-term chartered by Sakhalin Energy, was officially delivered to Sakhalin Energy.
‘Grand Aniva’ is the second of three long-term chartered tankers which will deliver LNG to Sakhalin Energy’s customers in the Asia Pacific region from Russia’s first ever LNG plant, which is being built by the Company at Prigorodnoye, in the south of Sakhalin Island.
‘Grand Elena’, the first vessel, was already delivered to Sakhalin Energy in October 2007.
These two 147,000 m3 LNG carriers were built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Nagasaki for a Japanese-Russian joint venture of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) and JSC Sovcomflot, the Russian state-owned shipping company.
‘Grand Aniva’ has left Nagasaki for Singapore to bunker en-route to the Atlantic where she is expected to be trading for sub-charterers prior to the first LNG shipment of the Sakhalin II Project.
The ‘Grand Elena’ and ‘Grand Aniva’ are ice strengthened and have been designed to operate at low temperatures to ensure year round operations from Sakhalin.
